Program Description
The Medical Center of Central Georgia is an optimal setting for residency training in Family Medicine. Since 1921, the Medical Center has continuously trained general or family physicians. The hospitals offers state of the art technology and attending staff include all major clinical disciplines. Small, but excellent residencies in the disciplines of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, General Surgery and Internal Medicine complement the Family Medicine Residency. Faculty experience, the presence of medical students, and the educational resources of the Mercer University School of Medicine enrich the teaching environment.

Our Program

Curriculum strengths include procedures, geriatrics, women's health, and integrative medicine, as well as, Full Challenger Library, New Innovations, and Up To Date.

PGY - 1
  • Internal Medicine [2 rotations]
  • Critical Care
  • Inpatient Pediatrics & Outpatient Pediatrics [1 rotation each]
  • OB [2 rotations]
  • Peripartum
  • Dermatology; Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine Inpatient Service [2 rotations]
  • 4 rotations free of call

PGY - 2 / PGY - 3
  • Family Medicine Inpatient Service [4 rotations]
  • 4 different rotations, 12 weeks each one: Community Medicine, Medical Subspecialties, Surgical Subspecialties, Women & Children
  • Night Float system
  • AZCIM Integrative Medicine Residency
  • Geriatrics, Inpatient General Surgery, Peds 2, Electives [4 rotations total]
