Continuing Medical Education

The Medical Center of Central Georgia is accredited by the Medical Association of Georgia to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CME Mission Statement:
To educate physicians and other health professionals to better serve healthcare needs of Georgia.

CME Purpose
The purpose of the overall CME program shall be to enhance the clinical competence of physicians to improve the quality of health care for the citizens of Georgia

Content Areas
Content areas will include current updates and evidence in scientific knowledge, diagnosis and management, application of information technology to clinical practice, and subjects relevant to practice within the scope of the larger system of healthcare.

Target Audience
Activities will be provided for the specialties of family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and psychiatry. Additional activities may also be provided for hospital-based specialties including anesthesia, emergency medicine, pathology, and radiology. Potential participants shall in most cases be physicians practicing within the state of Georgia in these specialty practice areas.

Type of Activities Provided
Types of activities will include on-going weekly grand rounds, enduring materials, special conferences and symposia, and outreach programs for rural physicians.

Expected Results
The target audience should expect the following results from the CME effort:

  • improvement in physician competence, and/or
  • improvement in performance-in-practice, and/or
  • improvement in patient outcomes. Please indicate the type of improvements upon which your activity will focus
